Hemorrhoids commonly referred to as piles are swollen and inflamed veins in the last part of the intestine called as rectum and the anal opening from where fecal is eliminated from the body, anus. Due to several factors the walls of the blood vessels stretch and bulge get irritated, causing pain, discomfort and bleeding during bowel movements

CLASSIFICATION OF PILES

Hemorrhoids are classified into external or internal hemorrhoids depending on the location of vein swelling and inflammation in the lowest part of the intestine. External hemorrhoids develop in the exterior skin covering the anus. The veins swell and form clots causing severe pain and bleeding from the anus especially during bowel movement. This condition increases the risk of infections and complications. Internal hemorrhoids are developed inside the rectum and generally don’t hurt as they have only few pain-sensing nerves.
